Review | Essie Nail Polishes

Friday, 30 January 2015

Have you ever bought a product which you have seen appear on other blogs, instagram pages and youtube videos, only to buy it and be majorly disappointed?

I have and annoyingly I’m not learning from my mistakes.

As I use to work in a hotel, I was never allowed to paint my nails. Until 2 months ago when I left my job for an office desk.
I jumped at the chance and went out and brought some new nail polish in some colours that I didn’t already have.
I had seen Essie nail polish all over twitter and many blogs raving about the colours and quality.

Previously, when I chose nail varnish, I have been playing it safe and buying Nails Inc. I love their colours, the packaging and the quality. And I'm quite happy to spend £11 on one colour, knowing I won't be disappointed.

As I walked into Boots, I stopped at the Essie section and picked up three colours.
Mint Candy Apple, which is a light mint colour. Chinchilla, this is my favourite colour out of the three and I have received a lot of compliments about it and A-List, this is the most popular and I have seen it being used by probably everyone that I know.

Mint Candy Apple

A-List

Chinchilly; after a shower

The price for each bottle is reasonable £7 and at the time I believe there was a deal going on.

When applying the nail varnish I found that the Chinchilly needed 6 coats until my nail was covered and the A-List was a lot brighter than the colour in the bottle, while the Mint Candy Apple was fine.

What disappointed me was how long they each lasted. Now I may of been silly and commenced a beauty faux pas and please let me know if I did.
But after having the nail polish on for an hour, you expect it to stay on your nails and not remove itself when in the shower..
With in seconds the polish started peeling from my nails and I came out finding it in my hair.. not nice!

originally put this down to the polish being fresh on my nails and re-applied the colour. However, it happened again a day later!
Soon I realised that it happened with all three colours!

This won’t be a brand I will be returning to in a hurry, however the colours are gorgeous and having them in my drawer means I can grab hold of them whenever the 'peeled' look comes in fashion.==
I have never had this problem with Nails Inc.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did I do something wrong, or maybe there is something I can do to prevent the nail polish from peeling in hot water? Let me know in the comment section :)

Until next time,

Collective Haul: Lush, Feel Unique & Apple

Friday, 22 August 2014

I've not done a haul post for a while, so it's no surprise that this is going to be a small post :)
These are just some items that I have brought in the last couple of week's.

Because I having been working more hours, than normal since going full-time at work, I now have found it a lot easier to buy my things online. So when I found out that I had ran out of my favourite mascara I turned very quickly to Feel Unique.

I wasn't expecting the Benefit, They're Real! mascara to be cheaper, but at the same time Benefit had just released their new push up eye liner.
I also needed some more shampoo, but rather than go along with a brand and type that I knew worked, I opted for the John Frieda Colour Renew for Blondes, rather than my regular Colour highlighting one.
I know what you're thinking, I don't have blonde hair, but I do have blonde colour treated hair as my ombre, and actually this shampoo has worked wonders! It leaves my hair so soft and people have asked if I have had my hair coloured again, which I haven't. Last time I had my hair coloured was back in DECEMBER!
Ombre is amazing for lasting ages, plus I'm trying to grow my hair long! :)

This girl right here is a complete sucker for freebies, so when i saw that if i brought two items from Benefit I would receive a free LUGGAGE TAG! Yes, a luggage tag.. I will probably never use it, but you never know.. ha!
Other free items included samples of more shampoo and conditioner... haha!

Moving on over to Lush. I've never brought items from Lush, and in the past have steered clear from their shops as I would find the smell a bit over powering. However, with my brother not using his bath for 3 months (he is currently away in Canada, and has usage of the family bathroom which has the only bath in the house, in it) and watching copious amounts of videos and reading blogs about Lush hauls, I thought I would jump on the band wagon.

I brought not one, but 4 bath bombs and made sure that they were all bubble starters. I was given a Santa bath bomb from Lush for Christmas and was slightly disappointed to have no bubbles in bath!

My choices were:

The Comforter Bubble Bar
The Brightside
Dorothy Bubble Bar
Pop in the Bath Bubble Bar

Writing all this, I've noticed that since buying them, I've not even had time to try them out and are currently sat on the side in my room.... I really should take advantage of a free bath, he's back in a couple of weeks!

My final purchase, and most exciting one, is my new PC. Funny story really, went in to LOOK at Apple MacBooks. Two hours later, left with a 27" Apple Mac.. yeah!
I am glad with my purchase as it is now helping me edit photos to a much higher standard. I am no longer squinting at a small 15" screen on a laptop, trying to find the Wi-Fi signal.
I am IN LOVE with my new toy.. absolutely love it. However, I do find the added extras for the Mac are ridiculously priced, so I will be keeping my laptop incase I need to put anything on discs.

That is everything! Let me know if you have had any different Lush Bath Bombs that you think I should try :)

Until next time,

My Emmy Twenty Shoes; Review

Tuesday, 10 June 2014

When it comes to shoes, I prefer to go towards the boring, black, flat with the sensible design. I do own high heels, before any of you jump to assumptions, but there is no better feeling than putting on a pair of flats after being on your feet all day! You must agree with me on that!?

I currently only live in Toms and Vans, so when I was approached by Sharon at Emmy Twenty, I was a bit hesitant on straying to a new brand of shoe.
Emmy Twenty is a newly formed company after Sharon was getting slightly annoyed when her high heels would get stuck in the busy pavements and tube doors of London. After much research, Sharon found a gap in the market for fashionable leather flats, but at an affordable price.  Now the company take pride in their small collection of Ballet pumps, a timeless classic piece.

Initially I was asked to give the website feedback, but once I started browsing, there was no stopping me and next thing I know I had ordered a pair of shoes.

Invicta to be exact, in the colour Tan. A gorgeous leather shoe, with the toe piece covered in metal studs. I was really torn between these and the other amazing choices. What’s more surprising is that they’re not my chosen colour of black! Another pair of shoes on Emmy Twenty even struck a chord. My grandmother died of Ovarian Cancer when my Mum was in her late 20’s, so to find a pair of shoes with a donation going towards Ovarian Cancer was so lovely to see and great that a company had recognised an illness with little publication on.

The shoes cost £65, now before you start wincing, that cost is a lot cheaper than a normal pair of leather shoes, and to be honest you don’t even know if you are getting genuine leather. With Emmy Twenty you are guaranteed! Sizes range from 3 to 8 and the choice of colours with the designs are all just gorgeous.
I was very impressed by the smooth method of ordering, paying and the time frame of then receiving the shoes! Very quick with free delivery in the UK! There was a lovely note from Sharon who told me it was best to walk them in with socks around the house for a bit. And she wasn't wrong!

I opened the box, and am instantly hit with the smell of pure workmanship and leather, absolutely amazing! A lot of hard work went into these shoes and you can really tell, I even have some writing in the sole which I love :) Adds a quirky and unique touch to them.

Now for me to ensure that I gave you a true review, I allowed myself a month rather than a week. I tried them on and they were very tight, so tight I could initially keep them on for 10 minutes. I ordered a size 6 and panicked I had the wrong size. This didn't stop me and every so often I would put them on my feet and walk around the house. I suppose it has not helped that my feet are in bad shape at the moment from ill fitted work shoes, but none the less slowly the Invicta Shoes started to give in to my messed up feet and started to feel comfortable.

These are absolutely gorgeous shoes and I am so glad I picked them out, the tan ones go really well with just jeans and casual top at the moment, but am looking forward to pairing them up with other items. I would really highly recommend this small shoe shop for shoes (try saying that quickly) that are made of the highest standard, affordable and designs you will not see on the high-street. I'm actually looking at the website right now, mouse hovering over the Danson Teal ones. My Toms can move over now!

If you would like to know more about Emmy Twenty or would like to gaze over the range of shoes, you can find the link here as well as throughout the review.

Thank you, Sharon, for letting me into your world of stunning flat shoes.

Until next time

Maybe She's Born with it? Maybe it's Maybelline!

Monday, 6 May 2013

Well I hope you all enjoyed the weather! :) I managed to catch the sun whilst sat in the garden, thankfully not invaded by animals :)

I decided this afternoon that I needed to clear up my room, looked a bit dirty..
Anyway, upon looking in my drawer I came across loads of product samples.
Couple of months ago I subscribed to GlossyBox. You paid £12 (or near enough) once a month for a box in return which had five products in. These products were based on your "Beauty Profile", however some of them I received were for anti-ageing, I know I'm old but I'm not THAT old!

I've decided I'll take some time in the evenings to review these as well as anything else that I buy or find lurking in my room.

Now I'm not a huge make-up fan, and you really would not believe this if you saw my bag..
Ok, I may of exaggerated a bit, but it tends to stay in the bag rather than out being used!
So in my rummaging I came across not one, but three mascaras.
This is one product that I can not live without!
So the three that I have are:

Rimmel London "Scandaleyes- Show off"
Maybelline "Volum' Express Lift Up"
and finally Benefits "They're Real"

After trying all three, and I'm not surprised, Benefits is my favourite. However at the hefty price of £19.50 I'm considering to use it for special occasions, don't get much of those..
I did get this one on offer, it came with a free travel size mascara which my mum has.
Now when I have time I'll show you the effects of the mascara, it really does "extend and volumise" and no i don't wear those stupid fake eyelashes, mine are 100% real. :)
I'll also show you what make up I use everyday, I might even chuck some of it out..!
Right Ciao for now Bella's!

iPhone Accessories :)

Saturday, 27 April 2013

Good afternoon! Before I rush off to get ready for work (should be having a shower right now) I thought I would show you my recent purchases!
My first was a silicon rabbit iPhone 4 case. Now I watch far to much TV in my spare time, which is very rare I would like to add, and one programme I cannot miss is New Girl!
It shows in the UK every Tuesday at 9pm on E4. I love Zooeys character Jess. I like to see myself as a... Toned down replica of Jess. She has a phone case which I absolutely adored and I'm so glad I managed to find one on Amazon. It was very quick delivery and despite being a knock off of the Rabito ones. (They normally cost £20+) it's ok. The silicon attracts dirt, and weirdly I would say there's a 2mm space from the cover to the phone. But apart from that it does its job :)
I normally go to Amazon if I need something, especially for my second item I got the other day. My 2metre iPhone charging cable decided to stop working. :( boo! From what started as a search to just replace the cable ended up with a docking station. It's a Kitsound Docking station which charges and syncs when plugged to the laptop. It's very good quality, annoyingly I have to take the phone out of its case to charge, but I read reviews about this and I'm lucky that my case is slightly too big to take off easily ;)
I was a bit sceptical about these two items, but so far they have out my worries aside. I do do my homework before hand and look around.
Now with both purchases I didn't have to pay a penny, why? Because I had done a student survey and they gave me an Amazon gift certificate which I totally forgot about!
I will talk about those next time, surveys. I'm researching around as I heard you can earn money. Great method for students! :)

Teapigs :)

Thursday, 25 April 2013

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's my love for tea.
I'm not a tea expert but I can't go through a day being happy if I have no tea!
I've been brought up on Twinings, and can remember drinking tea cold when I was young. My parents were a bit surprised especially as they were drinking Earl Grey back then. We now all drink English Breakfast which I prefer but will occasionally dip back into the old days.
Since starting at Hillbrooke in 2010, they use Teapigs.
It's a company which use tea leaves instead of other tea dust which is what the other tea companies use. They do all sorts of types. From your everyday Green Tea to Chocolate Tea.
As we have training by them we re also introduced to new ideas, such as the Chai Tea Latte. I required taste I feel.
By the method that Tea Pigs use, I can drink their English Breakfast tea with no milk and we have stacks of Peppermint tea in the cupboard as I'm the only one drinking it!
You can find Teapigs in all small deli shops, there becoming more and more popular as the days go by. You can also buy online www.teapigs.co.uk

I'm always trying new stuff so I'll keep you informed :)
